In an industry where women are still underrepresented, Brooke’s journey from Administrative Assistant to Service Delivery Manager is a shining example of what’s possible with determination and a willingness to embrace new challenges. With curiosity, resilience, and a supportive community, she found her tech home with Klik Solutions.

A Journey into Tech

Brooke’s entry into the tech world wasn’t something she initially envisioned. “Originally, I had a very limited background in technology,” she recalls. Starting as the Administrative Assistant to Klik Solutions’ CEO, Brooke quickly immersed herself in learning from her colleagues and peers. “Now I feel like a bit of a Microsoft expert!” she adds with pride. Her transformation underscores how a willingness to learn can open doors in even the most unexpected places.

Finding Inspiration in the Challenge

What drew Brooke to technology was the promise of constant growth. “I was looking for a position where I would have the opportunity to learn something new, and I definitely got that here at Klik,” she reflects. Her passion for learning, combined with the opportunities at Klik, propelled her from assistant to Service Delivery Manager in under a year—a milestone she considers one of her proudest achievements.

Overcoming Challenges and Gaining Confidence

Brooke’s transition into a tech role came with its share of challenges. As one of the youngest team members, she had to navigate diverse personalities and assert herself in a dynamic environment. “Learning how to work with a wide range of personalities and hold my own while being one of the youngest in the office brought some challenges,” Brooke admits. By building strong relationships and gaining the support of her team, she not only overcame these challenges but also thrived in her new role.

A Day in the Life of a Service Delivery Manager

In her current role, Brooke is the crucial link between clients, the technical team, and the sales team. “I am the point of contact for our clients, and work closely with the technical and sales team to schedule calls, manage correspondence, and oversee projects,” she explains. Among her current projects, Brooke is particularly excited about one: “The project that excites me the most right now is my first solo project implementing Protect Plus for one of our clients. It’s exciting to take the reins and complete my first project on my own.”

Staying Ahead of the Curve

Staying informed about the latest trends in tech is essential for Brooke, and she has a unique way of doing it.  She started a tech blog while working with the CEO.  The blog, called “TechBarbie” was Brooke’s contribution to helping people who aren’t as “tech-savvy” understand some of the unique and technical aspects of tech, including the crossover between tech and modern culture. “The TechBarbie blog helps me stay up to date on the latest trends. I’m always doing research for my next blog post,” she notes. This blend of professional development and personal passion keeps her at the forefront of this industry’s trends.

Essential Skills and Tools

Brooke emphasizes the importance of organization and persistence as key skills for success in her field. “You have to be a self-starter and keep all your ducks in a row even when things come at you fast,” she advises. On the tools side, her essentials are simple but effective: “Hmm, my laptop? Lol. I also appreciate how much of my work can be done on my phone with the Teams and Outlook apps.”

Words of Wisdom

For women considering a tech career, Brooke offers some empowering advice. “Don’t shy away because it’s predominantly men. Joining is the only way to rewrite that history. There’s also lots of amazing and inspiring women here to guide you on your way, women who have been through it before.” Her message is clear—there’s a place for everyone in tech, and the more diverse the field becomes, the stronger it gets.

Proud Moments and Lasting Impact

Reflecting on her brief but exhilarating career thus far, Brooke takes pride in how quickly she found her footing after graduation. “I believe my work for our CEO paved the way for people to see me as an excellent addition to the Project Management team,” she shares. She also highlights a significant contribution to the company: overseeing the rollout of new documentation for industry-specific content. “While it was hard work, I’m proud whenever I see them in use and helping our sales team to close deals,” she says. She looks back on this accomplishment with pride.

Mentors and Inspiration

Brooke attributes much of her success to the mentors who have been guiding her along the way. “I would say both Arthur, our CEO, and Anna, my Team Lead, have been instrumental in my growth,” she reflects. Arthur saw her potential from the start, even when she was a recent Spanish major graduate with no office experience. Anna has been a constant source of support, guiding Brooke as she transitioned into her new role.

Reflecting on Her Journey

If Brooke could advise her younger self, she would encourage embracing the unexpected. “I would tell her that she’s working in tech!! Probably not what she expected, but she’ll find an amazing community within the company, and it wouldn’t be as intimidating as it sounds,” she says with a smile. Brooke’s story reminds us that with determination, support, and a willingness to learn, anyone can thrive in the tech industry—no matter where they begin.

As Brooke continues to grow in her role, she’s excited about the opportunities ahead. With each new project, she gains more experience and confidence, solidifying her place as a key player in the tech industry. Brooke’s journey is just beginning, and we can’t wait to see where her drive and passion will take her next.
